Emergency electrician in Pretoria East, any hour
Lights out, breaker will not stay up, or something smells like it is burning? Phone us. We answer 24 hours a day, weekends and public holidays too.
Smell burning or see sparks? Switch off the main switch if it is safe to, then phone us.
Call MartinElectrical faults do not wait for office hours. The main switch drops just as the family sits down for supper, a storm takes out half the plugs on a Saturday night, or the earth leakage keeps tripping at three in the morning and the fridge is slowly warming up. Those are the calls we take.
When you phone, we first check that you and your family are safe and help you work out what to switch off. Then we come out, find what actually caused it and fix it properly, so you are not left with a breaker taped up and a promise to come back on Monday.

Jobs we get called for
No power to the whole house
We check whether the fault is inside your property or on the supply side, so you know who needs to sort it.
Earth leakage that keeps tripping
We isolate circuit by circuit until we find the one leaking to earth, then repair it.
Burnt plugs, sockets and wiring
Scorch marks, melted plugs or a hot smell from a wall. Made safe first, then replaced.
Storm and lightning damage
Blown breakers, dead appliances and damaged circuits checked and repaired after a storm.
Before we get to you
- 1
If you can smell burning or see smoke or sparks, do not touch the plug or appliance. Switch off the main switch at the DB board if you can reach it safely.
- 2
If only one breaker or the earth leakage has tripped, unplug everything on that side of the house and try to reset it once. If it trips again straight away, leave it off.
- 3
Check with a neighbour whether their power is on. If the whole street is dark, it is probably a supply problem rather than your wiring.
- 4
Keep the fridge and freezer closed, and phone us. We will talk you through anything else you need to switch off.
Common questions
Do you really answer the phone at night?
Yes. The phone is answered 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including weekends and public holidays.
My neighbours have power and I do not. Is that my problem?
Usually it means the fault is on your side, often at the DB board, the main switch or the supply cable to the house. Phone us and we will help you narrow it down before we arrive.
Can you sort out storm damage after a lightning strike?
Yes. We check the board, the circuits and the plug points, replace what was damaged and tell you plainly what we found so you have it for your insurer.
