Your DB board is where every circuit in the house starts. When it is old, overloaded or untidy inside, the whole installation suffers.
The distribution board is the grey box, usually in the kitchen, passage or garage, with the main switch, the earth leakage and a row of breakers. In a lot of houses, several different people have worked on it, and when you open the cover it shows. Loose wires, breakers that do not match, and nothing labelled.

How do I know if my DB board needs upgrading?
Old screw-in fuses, breakers that feel warm, a burning smell near the board, no earth leakage unit, or a board with no space left for new circuits are all reasons to have it looked at.
Will I be without power for the day?
Only for part of it. We tell you upfront roughly how long the switch-off will be so you can plan around it.
Do I need a new board to install solar or an inverter?
Not always, but the board usually needs some work so the essential circuits can be split onto their own sub board. We check that when we quote for the backup system.
